Nature of examination:- Objective

In the light of Bihar Staff Selection Commission Examination Conducting Rules - 2010, preliminary examination will be conducted if more than 40 (forty) thousand applications are received. The preliminary examination may be conducted in more than one phase if more applications are received. In case the examination is conducted in different stages, the examination result will be prepared by adopting the process of equalization.

The preliminary examination will be of objective nature. Candidates equal to 05 (five) times the number of category wise vacancies available through the preliminary examination will be selected for the main examination. A separate advertisement will be published for the main examination.

Scheme of Preliminary Examination

Preliminary Examination: There will be one paper on General Knowledge in the preliminary examination, which will have the following topics:

  • General Studies.
  • General Science and Mathematics.
  • Mental Ability Test (Comprehension/ Logic/ Reasoning/ Mental Ability).

Note: Questions will be objective and multiple choice. Total number of questions will be 150 . 4 marks will be given for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer . The duration of the exam will be 2 hours 15 minutes . The medium of language in the preliminary examination will be Hindi/English. If there is any difference between Hindi and English question papers, only English questions will be valid.

Syllabus

Section (a) General Studies :- The purpose of the questions in this will be to test the candidate's general knowledge of the surrounding environment and his/her ability regarding its application in the society. Questions related to knowledge of matters like current events and day-to-day events, subtle observation and scientific approach towards them, about which any educated person is expected to have knowledge, will also be included. In this, questions can be asked specifically regarding Bihar, India and its neighboring countries.

  1. Contemporary topics:- Scientific progress, National/International awards, Indian languages, book, script, capital, currency, sports players, important events.
  2. India and its neighboring countries:- History of neighboring countries, History of India, culture, geography, economic scenario, freedom movement, main features of Indian agriculture and natural resources, Constitution and polity of India, political system of the country, Panchayati Raj, Contribution of Bihar in community development, five year plan and national movement.

Section (B) General Science and Mathematics:- In this generally questions can be asked from the following subjects of matriculation level:-

  1. General Science:- Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography.
  2. Mathematics:- Questions related to number system, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, interrelationships between numbers, basic numerical mathematical operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, interest, and profit and loss.

Section (c) Mental Ability Test : In this, both verbal and non-verbal questions can be asked. In this component, as many questions as possible related to the following can be asked:- Analogy, Similarity and Difference, Space Visualization, Problem Solving, Analysis, Visual Memory, Differentiation, Observation, Relationship Concept, Numerical Reasoning, Numerical Number Series, Code Writing and Code interpretation.

Minimum Qualifing Marks

Qualifying Marks: - In the light of Resolution No. 2374, dated 18.07.2007 issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (General Administration Department), it will be mandatory for the candidates to obtain minimum qualifying marks in the written examination, which is as follows:

About Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC)

By Act No. 7/2002 of Bihar State Pay Scale Rs. Bihar Staff Selection Commission, Po.- Veterinary College, Patna was constituted for appointment to non-gazetted posts of class-3 below 6,500-10,500/-. The Lower Service Selection Council was dissolved earlier and after the dissolution of the School Service Board, it was included in the commission.

The posts of a chairman and two members are created in the Bihar Staff Selection Commission, in which officers of the rank of secretary of the Indian Administrative Service are the chairman and officers of different cadres of class-I with a pay scale of not less than Rs. 14,000/- are nominated by the government as members. is done. At the administrative level in the commission, there are secretaries and joint secretaries who are officers of the Bihar Administrative Service. There is a law officer who is appointed by the government to look after the court cases.
